Clarity & Awareness Mala | Blue Horizon

There are moments when the landscape becomes so expansive that your thoughts seem to grow quiet on their own.

At Hale Akua, I would come to these cliffside overlooks where the dense tropical landscape suddenly opened to the Pacific. Green hills dropped toward the water, the horizon stretched farther than I could follow, and there was this incredible contrast between everything growing close around me and the vast blue openness beyond it.

You could simply stand there and look.

And somehow, that was enough.

That feeling became the heart of Blue Horizon.

The deep blue of Lapis Lazuli echoes the richness of the water and the endless blue beyond the cliffs. White Howlite brings openness and stillness, while the Quartz pendant holds the light—a clear focal point at the center of the piece.

Together, they remind me of something I felt again and again in Maui: sometimes clarity doesn't come from thinking harder.

It comes from expansion.

From getting quiet enough that the constant movement of the mind begins to settle. From allowing yourself to become present to something larger than the problem you're trying to solve. From creating enough internal space for a different kind of knowing to emerge.

A stillness that isn't empty.

A stillness that is aware.

This is one of five malas I hand-carried to Maui and brought into the gardens of Hale Akua. Each was placed with a different guardian and photographed there.

When I placed Blue Horizon with its guardian, I asked the guardian to send the aloha energy of Maui to the person who would one day wear it.

May it remind you that when your view expands, something within you can expand with it.

And sometimes, from that wider place, you simply know.

Still. Expansive. Aware.

Use Blue Horizon when your thoughts feel crowded or when you've been trying too hard to find an answer.

Hold the mala and take several slow breaths before beginning. As you move through the beads, imagine creating more space around whatever you're carrying rather than trying to solve it.

You might use a simple phrase such as I make space to know or simply allow your breath to be the practice.

When you reach the Quartz pendant, pause. Let it become your horizon point—a moment to stop searching and notice what remains when the mental noise settles.

This mala can also be used before journaling, meditation, contemplation, or a decision that would benefit from spaciousness rather than urgency.

Third Eye Chakra — Lapis Lazuli is traditionally associated with inner vision, self-awareness, intuition, and deeper understanding. This is the primary chakra connection for Blue Horizon.

Throat Chakra — Lapis Lazuli is also traditionally connected with truth and authentic expression, creating a bridge between recognizing what is true within you and being able to give it voice.

Crown Chakra — Clear Quartz brings the upper-chakra energy of expanded awareness and clarity, complementing the central theme of moving beyond mental noise into a wider state of consciousness.

💧 Water Element — Stillness, intuition, reflection, depth, and the clear knowing that emerges when inner movement settles.

🌬️ Air Element — Spaciousness, perspective, clarity, and the expansion that comes from moving beyond habitual thought.

✨ Spirit(Ether) Element — Divine awareness, spiritual connection, higher consciousness, and the experience of opening to something larger than yourself.

Avoid direct contact with sunscreen, lotions, oils, perfumes, and household chemicals.

Remove your mala before swimming, bathing, showering, or prolonged exposure to water. This helps protect the stones, hand-knotting, pendant, and tassel.

For energetic cleansing, use a dry method such as moonlight, incense, or sound rather than soaking the mala or placing it in salt water.

Store separately in a soft pouch or dedicated space when not in use.

If the tassel becomes rumpled, lightly dampen the fibers, gently reshape them, and allow it to dry flat.
