Beneath the Stillness is a mala for listening—to your intuition, to what is unfolding beneath the surface, and to the quieter knowing that can be difficult to hear when life is loud.

Deep rosewood beads create the grounding foundation of the piece, while faceted Black Labradorite gathers around a raw Labradorite guru bead. Labradorite is traditionally associated with intuition, self-discovery, transformation, and protection—qualities that feel especially connected to the place this mala experienced in Maui. Crystal Vaults also associates Labradorite with Water energy: stillness, quiet strength, unrealized potential, regeneration, and the natural unfolding of life's path.

This is one of five malas I hand-carried to Maui as part of the Hale Akua Guardian Collection.

At Hale Akua, there was a meditative path that passed between two ponds, surrounded by banana trees, ginger groves, and dense tropical growth. Koi moved beneath the water. At night, tiny frogs transformed the gardens into a symphony of sound.

It was the kind of place that asked you to become quiet enough to notice what was already happening around you.

Each of the five malas was brought into the gardens and placed with a different guardian. When I placed this mala with its guardian, I asked the guardian to send the aloha energy of Maui to the person who would one day wear it.

Beneath the Stillness carries that moment forward—a reminder that clarity doesn't always arrive through searching harder.

Sometimes we listen.

Sometimes we become still enough to notice.

Sometimes what we need has been moving beneath the surface all along.

Still. Intuitive. Awake.

• Use the mala during meditation or mantra practice when you want to quiet outside noise and listen inward.
  
• Move slowly through the beads when you’re seeking clarity during a period of change or uncertainty.
  
• At the raw Labradorite guru bead, pause. Notice what has surfaced without immediately trying to interpret or act on it.
  
• Wear or carry the mala as a reminder to create space between what happens around you and how you choose to respond.
  
• Especially meaningful for evening reflection, journaling, or quiet moments when the day begins to settle.

Labradorite is traditionally associated with intuition, inner awareness, insight, and the ability to look beyond what is immediately visible.

Crown Chakra

Labradorite is also traditionally connected with expanded awareness, reflection, and a deeper relationship with one's inner knowing.

💧 Water Element

Labradorite is associated with Water energy—stillness, intuition, regeneration, possibility, and allowing what is beneath the surface to gradually reveal itself. It feels especially meaningful for a mala connected to Hale Akua's ponds, koi, and the quiet movement of water through the gardens.

🌎 Earth Element

Rosewood brings the grounding counterbalance: rootedness, stability, connection to the natural world, and presence in the here and now.

Avoid direct contact with sunscreen, lotions, oils, perfumes, and other personal-care products.

Remove before swimming, bathing, showering, or prolonged exposure to water. This is especially important for protecting the rosewood, hand-knotted construction, and tassel.

For energetic cleansing, use moonlight, incense, or sound rather than soaking the mala in water.

Store separately in a soft pouch or dedicated space when not in use to help protect the natural wood, Labradorite, and knotting.

If the tassel becomes bent or unruly, lightly dampen it with clean water, gently reshape it with your fingers, and lay it flat to dry.
